Ni International Enterprise Limited was fined $30,000 and ordered to pay reparation of $20,595 under sections 6 and 13 (b) after an employee died from injuries after falling from a forklift. He had been standing on the forks, about 3m high, to attach a chain to a post which suddenly fell with him to the floor, and landed on top of him. He received fractures and severe brain injuries, never regaining consciousness after being put on life support in an induced coma. The DoL said the company should have provided a man cage and ensured the forklift driver was trained ( Manukau DC, February 25).
