FELTEX CARPETS LTD was fined $12,000 under s6 and ordered to pay $4160 in reparations to a worker whose left hand had to be amputated after being caught in a wool carding machine. The injured man was investigating a problem with the wool feed when he slipped and his hand was pulled into the rollers. A co-worker stopped the machine, but it had to be partially dismantled before he could be freed ( Wellington DC, March 7 2006).
