THE SOAP FACTORY was fined $25,000 under s6 and ordered to pay $5000 in reparations after an employee’s right index finger was partially amputated in a soap mixing machine. The injured man was attempting to clean the machine when the spatula he was using became caught in an auger, pulling his hand in with it. The company has had two similar recent convictions (Manukau DC, October 29).
