The FARMERS TRADING COMPANY was fined $8500 under s6 of the HSE Act and ordered to pay $2500 in reparations to an employee who suffered fractures to both legs when she was crushed between two stock pickers. The injured woman was standing next to a stock picker, talking to the operator, when she was struck from behind by a second machine. Her workstation was in an area where the machinery operated, and an employee who was meant to watch for pedestrians in the work area had not been told this was part of his job (Manukau DC, September 10, 2004).
