WORKS INFRASTRUCTURE LTD was fined $3500 under s16(1)(a) after a motorist died when he lost control of his vehicle on an area of road that had recently been resurfaced with chip seal. The defendant’s work team had removed all warning signs after completing the work, even though the surface had not been swept to remove loose chips. Site supervisor JAMES CARRYLE REDDEN was convicted and discharged under s 19(b) (Tauranga DC, November 11).
