CADBURY CONFECTIONERY LTD was fined $1500 under s.6 after an employee’s wrist was crushed between the crank arm and hopper of a confectionery filling machine. The stroke length of the machine had to be manually reset during operation to suit different product lines. The injured worker dropped the ruler he was using to measure the stroke length and his arm was caught when he reached into the machine to retrieve it. He was awarded $500 of the fine. (Dunedin DC, 24 June.)
