ANCHOR PRODUCTS LTD was fined $7500 under s.6 after an employee at its Te Rapa milk processing plant caught her hand between a stationery pipe and a lifting head while using an air gun to remove excess milk powder. Employees were not using the correct isolation procedure when using the air gun: some used the emergency stop button, others used the gun while the machine was still operating. A guard identified as needed some months before had not been fitted. The injured woman, whose hand was partly crushed, was awarded $2500. (Hamilton DC, 31 August)
