FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTICS (NZ) LTD was convicted on three charges and fined a total of $6000 after an employee lost an index finger while feeding an unclamped wooden jig into an unguarded saw blade, which also lacked a riving knife to prevent grabbing. The company was fined $5000 under s6 and $1000 under s13(b) for failure to train. It was also convicted (but not fined)under s7(1)(a) for failing to identify hazards. The injured man received $4000.
