CANTERBURY SPINNERS LTD was fined $12,000 under s6 after an employee clearing wool from a wool press machine was trapped when hydraulic doors unexpectedly opened. The machine was under trial and no hazard-id had been carried out. The stop button did not fully isolate the press, as residual hydraulic pressure forced the doors open. The operator, who suffered fractures to his jaw, was awarded $4000. (Christchurch DC, 29 March)
