Council infrastructure maintenance company ECO WORKS LTD was fined $2500 under s18(1)(a) and a further $2500 under s16(1)(a) after two of its contractors struck underground cables, despite a council supervisor on site having the cable location plans in his van. The company had identified the cables but the information had not been passed on to those on site. No injury resulted, but passers-by were at risk when a manhole cover was blown off by the jolt.
