RESTAURANT BRANDS NZ LTD, trading as KFC, was fined $8500 under s6 after a 16-year-old employee was burnt when he attempted to clean a pressure cooker using water, contrary to company procedure. However, the manager and assistant manager knew water was being regularly used. The injured worker, who was awarded $7000, suffered mainly superficial burns to 22 percent of his body (Christchurch DC, 21 May)
