NORTH SHORE SCAFFOLDING LTD was fined $3000 under s15 after an employee of another company dislocated his elbow while trying to climb down scaffolding which lacked proper access. Two of the defendants’ employees - neither certified scaffolders - had erected the scaffolding and passed it as safe to use. (Auckland DC, 5 May) On the same day the company was fined another $1500 on a further s15 charge relating to deficient scaffolding following an inspection of the same site almost a month after the earlier incident. A plasterer risked an eight metre fall due to a variety of deficiences in the scaffolding.
