In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires,—
Booth means a booth of a type described in regulation 7 of these regulations:
Chief Inspector means the Chief Inspector appointed pursuant to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Factories Act 1946:
[Chopped-strand spraying means the propulsion through a chopping mechanism and onto a mould, by means of a jet of compressed air, of glass-fibre rovings, resins, and catalysts:]

“Chopped-strand spraying” and “Gel coating”: these definitions were inserted, as from 14 October 1982, by reg 2(1) Spray Coating Regulations 1962, Amendment No 3 (SR 1982/220).
[Gel coating means the application to the surfaces of moulds, by means of a spray, of a mixture of resins and pigments, for the purpose of providing smooth outer skins for mouldings produced from those moulds:]

Inflammable substance means a substance containing or being any goods of a kind for the time being specified in Class I or Class II of Schedule 1 to the Dangerous Goods Act 1957; and includes all other goods having a true flashing point of less than [65 degrees C]:

“Inflammable substance”: this definition was amended, as from 29 August 1975, by reg 2(1) Spray Coating Regulations, Amendment No 1 (SR 1975/221), by substituting the expression “65 degrees C” for the expression “150 degrees Fahrenheit”.
Inspector means an Inspector of Factories appointed pursuant to the Factories Act 1946:
Medical Officer means a Medical Officer of Health, or any medical practitioner authorised by the Director-General of Health to exercise the powers and perform the duties of a Medical Officer under these regulations:
Screen wall means a wall constructed of one or more of the materials specified in Part 1 of Schedule 1 hereto or lined on both sides with one or more of the materials specified in Part 2 of Schedule 1 hereto:
Spray coating means the application to any article by spraying of any substance other than metal and includes any such application by electrostatic spraying[; but does not include chopped-strand spraying or gel coating]:

Substance includes any fumes arising from a substance.
