Coroner Tim Scott has put forward two possible scenarios to explain the death of lift technician Brendon Scheib in Wellington in January 2016.

The NZ Herald reports the first is that Scheib decided to take a risk because he would only be in the lift pit for a brief time, and so activated only one of two safety switches to disable the lift cars.

The second is that Scheib believed both safety switches were activated, when only one of them was.
