The Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety, Michael Woodhouse, introduced the second reading of the Health and Safety Reform Bill with this speech.

Stuff reports him as telling Parliament that guidance on which industry sectors were to be regarded as high-risk would be provided shortly.

The NZ Herald reports his colleague Maurice Williamson as saying if people want someone to blame for the new law being weakened, then blame him.

Disappointment at the softening of the worker engagement obligations on small companies not deemed to be in a high-risk sector was reported by Stuff, which spoke to Sonya Rockhouse and Anna Osborne, whose son and husband respectively died at Pike River.
