WorkSafe advises that of 328 adventure activity operators who have identified themselves as required to register and be audited, nearly 30 of them are at risk of missing the set-in-stone 1 November deadline.

Of the 328, 74 are registered already, and 165 are moving through the audit process. A further 30 are expected to begin the audit process this week. Another 20 to 30 operators have a grace period because they are winter season-oriented and so won't be actively operating on 1 November.

However WorkSafe has warned the 30-odd remaining operators who have not yet begun the audit process, or who have not made significant progress, that they should prepare to suspend their operations on 1 November until the process is complete.

Of the five accredited auditors for adventure activities, four are now at or nearly at capacity, while one - the most recently accredited - still has some capacity to take on new clients.
