The NZ Herald reports a survey of more than 400 New Zealand nurses found nearly half were considering quitting over moral and ethical dilemmas they faced in their work.

"It shows moral distress is a reality nurses are struggling with - and they are really struggling," said Massey University researcher Dr Martin Woods. "Stories of burnout and leaving not just a given position but nursing itself must be taken seriously."

He said the distress nurses felt over ethical issues could lead to depression, burnout and stress.
